About the Book

Anatomy is the study of the structure and relationship between body parts. Physiology is the study of the function of body parts and the body as a whole. Human anatomy describes the structure of organs, muscles, bones and their function. It has two major parts Microscopic anatomy and Macroscopic anatomy. The human's investigation body includes life anatomy and physiology. Living systems can be defined from various perspectives, from the broad (looking at the entire earth) to the minute (individual atoms). The chemical level, atoms, molecules (combinations of atoms), and the chemical bonds between atoms provide the framework upon which all living activity is based. The cell is the smallest unit of life. Organelles within the cell are specialized bodies performing specific cellular functions. Cells themselves may be specialized. Thus, there are nerve cells, bone cells, and muscle cells. An organ system is two or more organs working together to accomplish a particular task. The digestive system, for example, involves the coordinated activities of many organs, including the mouth, stomach, small and large intestines, pancreas, and liver. The present book Anatomy and Physiology discusses all the important aspects of anatomy and physiology and its related fields.

Blair Fraser is a full professor at Romania. He obtained his B.S. degree in Zoology and his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences. He has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses for over twenty years. He taught anatomy and physiology to physical education majors. He received the Benefactor Award from the National Council for Resource Development. He has been a contributor to several books and has written numerous research papers in Neuroscience, Anatomy and Pharmacology. He oversaw the recent revision of the Interactive Physiology modules, and co¬authored the newest module of the Immune System. Blair Fraser served as a consultant for the Interactive physiology and is an active member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society. Bev Lott is Professor Emeritus of biology at Community College. While teaching at Community College, he developed a desire to better understand the relationship between the scientific study of the human body and the Physical Education. His book. Human Anatomy and Physiology, is part of the Benjamin/Cummings Series in the Physical Education. Bev Lott's new Edition contains general and specific information on human anatomy and physiology and thoroughly explains and demonstrates normal structures and functions in all body systems. He has considerable experience of teaching anatomy & physiology to undergraduate and pre-university students. Bev Lott has to his credit about 36 research articles published in national and international journals of reputeand conference proceedings.
