About the Book
The book attempts to achieve a balance between theory and application. For this reason, the book does not over-emphasize the mathematics of switching theory; however it does present the theory which is necessary for understanding the fundamental concepts of logic design. Written in a student-friendly style, the book provides an in-depth knowledge of logic design. Striking a balance between theory and practice, it covers topics ranging from number systems, binary codes, logic gates and Boolean algebra, design of combinational logic circuits, synchronous and asynchronous sequential circuits, etc. The main emphasis of this book is to highlight the theoretical concepts and systematic synthesis techniques that can be applied to the design of practical digital systems. This comprehensive book is written for the graduate students of electronics and communication engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, instrumentation engineering, telecommunication engineering, computer science and engineering, and information technology.
Contents: 1 .Introduction^. Digital System, 3. Asynchronous Sequential Logic, 4. Combinational Logic, 5. Binary Numbers System, 6. Fundamental of Boolean Alebra, 7. Circuit Theory and Logic Design, 8. Programmable Logic.
Jaden McLean was a Professor of Mathematics. Fie received his Ph.D. with a specialty in Matrices and Trigonometry, and Logic Design. Fie has published titles in College Algebra, Pre-calculus, College Algebra and Trigonometry, Trigonometry, Intermediate Algebra, Linear Algebra and Matrix Theory. After working on Radar Development with the Marconi Company for a number of years he was appointed Senior Lecturer at numerous Universities. Jaden McLean has to his credit about 23 research articles published in national and international journals of repute and conference proceedings. Previously, he was Joint Director, Directorate of Technical Education, and Controller of Examinations too.
Carmen Hurley is an emeritus Professor of Mathematics. Fie currently has research interests in magnetic recording, novel solid-state devices, and device modeling, and he has authored more than 70 refereed research publications in these fields. Fie has been in charge of courses on Digital Systems and Semiconductor Devices for many years. During this period he developed and ran a number of short courses on digital techniques designed for practicing engineers. Fie was also invited bythelntemationalTelecommunications Union on a number of occasions to give a series of lecture courses on the Indian sub-continent.
