Description

This book is one of fluid mechanics' two components. While fluid dynamics investigates fluids in motion, fluid statics deals with fluids that are at rest. In this chapter, fluid statics is covered. A fluid under no shear force is at rest. Therefore, any force that is created is solely a result of pressure and other common stressors. The hydrostatic state is the name given to such a situation. When compared to the analysis of fluids in motion, hydrostatic systems are actually much simpler to understand. The branch of fluid mechanics known as fluid dynamics studies the motion of fluids (liquids and gases). Its own subfields include aerodynamics, which is the study of gases in motion, and hydrodynamics, which is the study of liquids in motion. There are several uses for fluid dynamics, including computing forces and moments on aircraft. Newton's equation for shear stress serves as the basis for shear stresses in laminar flows. Researchers and graduate physics and chemistry students interested in the statistical physics of fluids are the target audience for the book.
